WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A COACH

Commit your time to a Level Up Scholar.
Coaches are paired with a student for two years to help them transition to college or launch their career.

Connect online or by phone once a week.
Keep in touch with your scholar by checking in and building a meaningful relationship.

Meet in person once a month.
You’ll join several planned group events and also schedule one-on-one time with your scholar.
We pair our scholars with the support they need, at the time they need it most.
We connect our student with someone who can relate: a former college graduate who can share life experiences and give advice on successfully transitioning into college life.
Ideal Coach Profile:
Graduated college in the last 10 - 15 years. Able to support and guide students transitioning to college, experience as a first-generation student is a plus.
How You’ll Help:
Work with students during their Freshman and Sophomore Years.
Discuss provided topics such as time management, organizational skills, choosing a major, and persistence.
Transition Coach (Year 1 - 2)
We connect students with leaders in fields related to their majors - professionals who are well networked and adept at providing industry insights.
Ideal Coach Profile:
College graduate well established in profession. 10+ years industry experience. Well networked and able to provide insights and connections in students field of study.
How You’ll Help:
Work with student during their Junior and Senior year.
Share industry experience, career path opportunities, advice, and access to your professional network.
Discuss provided themes around networking, career readiness, goal setting, and job-hunting.

Our coaches are paired with students for a 2-year period. During that time, they will meet with the student on a monthly basis. Many of these meetings will be activities hosted by Level Up Cincinnati - however many of the meetings/calls are scheduled by our coaches, providing flexibility to meet their schedules.

No. Experience as a first-gen student is a plus, however, we place a priority on finding committed individuals who are invested in helping their match succeed.

Our best coaches care deeply about the success of their scholar and work to build a lasting and supportive relationship. Our team does a great job ensuring our coaches are prepared with discussion topics, a clear schedule of events, and expectations. Since every student is different, we work closely with our coaches to ensure they have the support they need to make a positive impact.

We’ll bring you on-board with a first-class orientation, then support you with our Coach HUB where you will have access to resources and training that will have you more than prepared to guide your scholar to success.

We pair new matches yearly during the summer before students begin or return to school. Our annual kick-off is our launch picnic where coaches and students meet in person for the first time. Before that coaches complete orientation and training.
